85th Annual Feast of San Gennaro Festival

Prepping Mulberry Street for the San Genarro Festival

Preparations were underway Tuesday night on Mulberry Street

New York’s Feast of San Gennaro – Thursday, September 15 to Sunday, September 25, 2011

For the past 85 years, New York City has flocked to Little Italy to celebrate the Feast of San Gennaro with parades, music, outdoor dining and shopping, and religious observances. More than one million people are expected to attend the 11-day event, and preparations were already underway two days before the event, with streets closed down, decorations being put up, and temporary outdoor seating areas and vendor booths being constructed along Mulberry Street.

This year, the Feast has 35 participating restaurants offering indoor and outdoor dining, and 300 vendors will be lining the streets!

Check out the full calendar of events, including eating contests and a 2,000 lb birthday cake!
