The Highest Cost of a Penny

You may have heard that it costs more to make a penny than a penny is worth, but the highest cost ever is pretty hard to believe: High prices for metal in 2011 drove the cost up to 2.41 cents per penny!

There were probably more than a few pennies melted down and cashed in for copper that year!

It might save the U.S. money to not make them at all - Would you support the idea to get rid of the penny?
