NY1 is Rebranded as "Spectrum News"

New York local news channel "NY1" now has another awkward brand added to its iconic call letters.

As of November 15, 2016, the previously-renamed "Time Warner Cable News NY1" will be renamed "Spectrum NY1" to align with Charter Communication's business and consumer-facing "Spectrum" brand of communications services. The change comes only three years after Time Warner stamped their name in front of NY1 in 2013, but is now superseded thanks to the acquisition of Time Warner by Charter.

Much like the Time Warner re-branding, NY1 will continue to use its 24-year-old brand on air, saving the classic New York channel from a complete sterilization. The domain name NY1.com and prominent place on the cable dial at channel 1 and 701 will also remain.
