Protest in Washington Square Park after Trump Pushes Immigration Measures
On Wednesday, the Trump administration signed a list of executive orders concerning immigration that sent New Yorkers into the streets to protest.
The orders began to make real the threats Trump had voiced during his campaign in an attempt to isolate America and expel current residents that met an open-ended set of immigration criteria. Given calls for a reduction in numbers of incoming refugees, bans according to country of origin, and financial threats against so-called "sanctuary cities" that would disproportionately impact NYC, New Yorkers quickly organized a protest demonstration in Washington Square Park Wednesday night to make clear their disapproval of Trump's ideas.
