AGBC Front Yard: Where the Trucks Sleep

Front Yard is our location guessing game! Get to know the city better and explore the "front yard" that we all share: The city's outdoor locations. Each photo shows a street view within the five boroughs β€” We've tried to crop out any identifying characteristics, but there may still be some hints hidden in there somewhere!

All those city garbage trucks have to park somewhere! Here is one of their lots, but where is it? The Department of Sanitation has 2,230 regular trucks, so they need quite a few parking lots scattered across the city. There's a nice view of the blue sky above this lot, however, so it must be somewhere with a wide-open view so the trucks can bask in the sun.

Answer:

If you're a sharp-eyed trash-truck spotter or a Brooklyn bicycle commuter, you may have recognized the parking lot from today's feature as the intersection of Kent Ave and Clymer Street in the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Williamsburg. The area has been quickly changing from an industrial area to a waterfront destination like nearby Brooklyn Bridge Park, so you may see more construction than sanitation trucks there these days as the Navy Yard is redeveloped.
