Group plans to protest Thursday, May 25th outside 42nd Street CUNY building.

In the wake of a controversial choice for commencement speaker, Milo Yiannopoulos is scheduled to appear at a protest Thursday at noon alongside NY Assemblyman Dov Hikind and political commentator Pamela Geller in front of the CUNY Welcome Center storefront on 42nd between Second and Third Avenue. This will mark a rare appearance from Yiannopoulos after his Berkeley speaking engagement was shut down by protesters in February.

The event calls for the removal of political activist Linda Sarsour as commencement speaker for the CUNY School of Public Health. Sarsour's presence has incited opponents to claim CUNY will be supporting anti-semitic views by inviting her to speak.

The Facebook page for the protest currently shows 592 pledged to attend.

Note that the CUNY School of Public Health commencement will actually take place June 1st at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, and the Welcome Center is scheduled to be closed during the time of Thursday's protest.
