Two Dead in East Village in Apparent Murder-Suicide
Just before 8am this morning, the 62-year-old man shot his 56-year-old girlfriend in the chest, then killed himself.
What was at first thought to be a random killing now seems to be wholly intentional as the two were revealed to have been in a relationship.
In what is now being called a murder-suicide, the man walked up to his younger girlfriend as she was dismounting her Citibike near Cooper Union in Astor Place and shot her twice in the chest, according to witnesses. He then turned the gun on himself. Both have now been pronounced dead.
