NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu are executed while sitting in their vehicle at Myrtle Avenue and Tompkins Avenue in Bed-Stuy by a career criminal seeking to murder police officers in retribution for the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown

The shooter had traveled from Maryland to NYC via bus and wrote on Instagram that he intended to kill police officers, using hashtags referencing the police-involved deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. After shooting the two officers, he fled into the Myrtle–Willoughby Ave 'G' Train station and killed himself.
