Australian adventurer Ben Carlin and his wife Elinore launch their amphibious jeep into New York Bay in an attempt to circumnavigate the globe

Problems with the vehicle would end the trip five days later, and subsequent attempts would encounter various mechanical problems. After modifications to the amphibious setup, their successful attempt began in July 1950 and would end in May 1958 after multiple legs of the journey.
