The new CGI renderings show what 1WTC might look like on the skyline when completed in 2013

These photos only show what the main World Trade Center tower will look like when completed, and do not include the other towers in the complex, although the September 11th Museum and WTC Transit Hub are seen in some of the photos.

It’s significant to notice the new design for the spire / antenna atop 1WTC. In previous renderings, the building is seen with a spire protruding from the top which would have encased the communications equipment in decorative fiberglass cladding. These newest renderings only show an antenna, which may cause 1WTC to lose its symbolic 1,776ft height, but the removal of the antenna cladding has been called β€œfinal” by Douglas Durst, chairman of the Durst Organization.

One World Trade Center is currently set to top out construction in August 2012 and open in late 2013.
