The President made a trip to NYC on Thursday to visit the World Trade Center construction site and attend a fundraising event in the West Village.

At the World Trade Center, Obama joined Mayor Bloomberg, NY Governor Cuomo, NJ Governor Christie and signed one of the final steel beams that will become part of the 1WTC. His message was “We remember / We rebuild / We come back stronger! / Barack Obama”.

After touring the WTC site, President Obama’s motorcade travelled to the West Village, where he and First Lady Michelle Obama attended a fundraiser at the home of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick:

Among the celebrities on hand to hear Obama’s remarks were Oscar winner Meryl Streep, fashion designer Michael Kors and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who moderated a private question-and-answer session between the president and the guests.

The next stop of the night was the Plaza Hotel, which featured a performance by Mariah Carey.
