Suspect in Deadly Bronx School Stabbing to Appear Before Grand Jury

The 18-year-old Abel Cedeno is accused in the September stabbing that killed one and injured one.

Cedeno is facing second-degree murder and manslaughter charges after killing 15-year-old Matthew McCree and injuring 16-year-old Ariane Laboy in a classroom attack at Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation, a public school in West Farms, Bronx. Police have said Cedeno purchased a knife online and the attack may have been caused by bullying the attacker suffered since the beginning of this school year.

After questioning, Cedeno admitted that the two victims had thrown pencils at him right before the incident, but they had not been the primary source of the bullying.

Cedeno did you appear in Bronx Supreme Court today, and instead stated through his lawyer Deborah Rush that he is willing to appear before a grand jury. He is scheduled to appear October 17, 2017.
