NYPD officer Miosotis Familia is killed while sitting in a police vehicle in Fordham Heights, Bronx

The attack was unprovoked and the killer fled the scene, only to be quickly located by the massive police response and shot dead when he pointed the murder weapon at police. A bystander was also shot in the stomach in the exchange of gunfire.
