A Norwegian freighter and Staten Island ferry collide in dense fog, injuring 71 of the 2,400 passengers

The M/V HΓΈegh Orchid freighter was en route to Brooklyn when it impacted Staten Island ferry American Legion II just after 7am as it was traveling from S.I. to Manhattan. The NTSB found heavy fog and failure to properly communicate as the contributing factors.
