The current Metropolitan Opera House opens as part of Lincoln Center at Broadway and Columbus Avenue

The building replaced the original Met that opened in 1883 at Broadway and 39th Street. The opening night performance was the world premiere of Samuel Barber's Antony and Cleopatra.
