March 9 in New York History

📝 On This Day 📝

Monday, March 9, 1959 — 60 years ago

The Barbie doll debuts at the American International Toy Fair in New York, eventually going on to sell over 1 billion dolls. I'm certainly no expert on Barbie dolls, but it was fun to see that, over the years, there have been New York-themed designs like the Winter in New York Barbie wearing a fur-trimmed coat and a special-edition Barbie only available at the Times Square Toys R Us.
